Organizational changes

We are happy to announce that Thomas Klawitter, a long-term employee of Fides Customer Support, has accepted the challenge of becoming our new test manager. Thomas Klawitter will be responsible for defining and implementing new test processes to continually improve the quality of our core tool kits and services (e.g. EFTWeb, EFTFileEntry).

To ensure Fides services remain the premium offering in the market Fides decided upon hiring for the position of a Product Manager. Martin Walder, who will join Fides in March after working for Credit Suisse in the online banking sector, will take this new role. Martin Walder will be responsible for the ongoing evaluation of Fides internal systems and developing the Service Catalogue.

Thomas Streuli left Fides on 1st February and is succeeded by Florent Canizares as our new client relations & business development manager for France, Belgium and the French speaking part of Switzerland. We would like to thank Thomas Streuli for his time at Fides and we wish him success for his future.

Additionally, Fides would like to welcome Thomas Wenger, who started working in January 2012 as a part of the operations team.

We wish them all a successful start in their respective positions and are confident that they’ll provide Fides with a sound basis for further growth.

Welcome to 2012

Dear All

It has been an exciting and exhausting 2011 for Fides. In February we successfully launched our new SWIFT gateway, enabling us to offer a more complete, cost effective solution for SWIFT for Corporates. Further additions to our product portfolio included the release of the EFT Web solution, the migration of the payment engine, and the agreement to become a SWIFT Member Concentrator. In parallel we made significant progress with the replacement and renewal of our legacy systems and infrastructure. Last year has also been a period of significant company growth. We expanded the Fides team, effectively nearly doubling the number of staff, forcing us to move into new offices only two years after our last move.

The growth of the team has brought new experts with banking operations, banking IT and SWIFT Service Bureau backgrounds especially in IT, Development, Project Management and Client Support. The overall growth was supported by the roll-out of a new management team, a new organisation, new processes and a new internal control framework. Of particular note are the extended support hours which further enhance the service to our American and Asian clients.

All these changes would of course not have been possible without the trust and the commitment of our existing and new clients. In 2011 we welcomed many new members to the Fides community, both clients and partners. We grew by 35% in revenue and expanded our client base especially in North America, Europe and of course in our home market of Switzerland. The rapid growth resulted in many more projects and regrettably some scheduling challenges in the development and IT departments which I would like to take the opportunity to apologize for.
We wish you a prosperous 2012 and thank you for being our client and partner.

With kind regards

Dennis Flad and the Fides Team

In Memoria Marco Cantiello

Sadly, I have to inform you that in the night of the 24th of December Marco Cantiello has lost the fight against his illness and died. He went on his last journey at home in the circle of his family, which was his greatest wish. I would like to express my deepest mourning. As former Head of Development and Customer Support he was forming the Fides Services over the last 20 years. His optimism and cheerfulness was his “brand” and made him an especially valuable colleague and friend. It was an honour to work with him.

Grieving for a valuable colleague

New Features and Enhancements on EFT WEB

With the release of the new EFT WEB batch, you are now able to:

  • Restrict the view of accounts (and the payments from these accounts) to a selected user/group of users
  • Allow payments with a value date in the past
  • Have E-Mail Token Authentication
  • Use added support for internationalisation of the interface (available in english at the moment)
  • Receive additional confirmations for deleted payments for Fides File Entry (SFTP) (if you’re using this service)
  • Work with an improved interface
The new release additionally solves the following problems:
  • Fixed: Unicode incompatibility problems due to a recent change in our infrastructure
  • Fixed: View changes is now only accessible for settings administrators
  • Fixed: Under certain circumstances it was possible to create a user with the same username as an existing one causing the user management to display an error
  • Fixed: Performance problems when several requests are issued at the same time
  • Fixed: Error messages not being displayed for NAKs and number of errors not being set correctly
There is a known issue with the user management. The more changes are created, the slower the system gets. In order to prevent the system from getting completely overloaded we have restricted changes in the user management to five changes. This is but a temporary solution until we are able to fix the problem.
